Workshop at the GMA Annual Conference 2024 in Fribourg

Serious game vs. patient simulator - How a computer simulation facilitates the development of medical non-technical skills

Kai-Uwe Strelow (Head of Human Factors at the Rudolf Frey Lernklinik MAINZ) and Alexander Stork (Managing Director of NINECUBES) will let you experience in a simulation sequence how interpersonal Skills LAB is used in the training of medical students at the Mainz University Medical Center.

As a participant, you can expect a brief introduction to the development, objectives and embedding of the teaching method in the teaching concept of the Mainz University Medical Center. This is followed by an introduction to the operation of the simulation and taking part in a sequence of the game. The game round with 4 teams of 4 participants each will be concluded with a debriefing in the team.

As a learning method, this serious game is said to be highly useful for familiarizing participants with the superordinate competencies outlined in the ICL (Interpersonal Competence List). The reflection phases enable participants to experience the importance of behavior for the safety of treatment and patients like no other educational method.
